Eanes ISD will use February 19, 2018 as a student and staff weather make-up day for the January 16 inclement weather cancellation.
On this year's school calendar, Eanes ISD designated February 19 and April 30 as inclement weather make-up days. As you will recall, the December 8 inclement weather day will not need to be made up for students, but staff will work April 30 to fulfill contractual obligations. District leadership decided not to use April 30 as a student make-up day and keep as a staff work day, in case there is another inclement weather day where the April 30 day would be needed for students.
As you may remember when the 2017-18 calendar was adopted, the requirement for instructional minutes and waiver rules only allowed one inclement weather day to sufficiently meet the state-required minutes. In order to prevent a loss of funding or possibly extend the school year beyond May 25, students and staff will have school February 19, 2018. The two-hour delay on January 17 will not result in any make-up time for students.
In the event of a third inclement weather day, we will review the April 30 option. Any adjustments to the calendar would be communicated accordingly.
If you did not receive a phone call, email or text notification for the closings or delay, please check your notification settings in your child's Skyward Family Access account.
