Since Governor Greg Abbott’s order rescinded the statewide mask mandate, Eanes ISD administrators have analyzed the order, reviewed the Texas Education Agency’s updated guidance and engaged in discussions with Austin Public Health officials. Today, TEA stipulated "a mask shall be worn while inside the school building, school facility or in an outdoor space on school property." After conversations with principals and district administration, we agree with both APH and TEA to stay aligned with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance that states masks help stop the spread of COVID-19 to others.
The day is coming when we will relax and/or eliminate the requirement for masks in our school, but that day is not next week. Therefore, Eanes ISD will continue its protocols and require students, staff and visitors to wear masks in our buildings and on our campuses.
Our goal has always been to have a sustainable model of instruction - in both in-person and remote learning - to meet staff and students' needs. We believe the protocols we have had in place since August have allowed us to deliver those instructional models with minimal interruptions and without closing campuses, for more than six months.
While it is encouraging to see some of our teachers and staff getting vaccinated, most have not been able to receive a vaccine. We are hopeful with the state and federal announcement moving school staff as a priority that more staff will be able to get vaccinated, but that will take some time.
Again, we will continue protocols that have allowed us to remain sustainable and we will continue to align with guidance provided by APH, CDC and TEA. Our schools have adjusted to this new normal and we do not anticipate this decision changing anything in our daily routine in schools.
We appreciate our community supporting our efforts to prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff and community. We all look forward to the day when masks will no longer be a requirement, based on guidance from our local health authorities and TEA. For now, we will continue to mask up and stay safe.

Desde que la orden del gobernador Greg Abbott anuló el mandato de la máscara en todo el estado, los administradores de Eanes ISD han analizado la orden, revisado la guía actualizada de la Agencia de Educación de Texas y entablado conversaciones con los funcionarios de Salud Pública de Austin. Hoy en día, la TEA estipuló que "se debe usar una máscara dentro del edificio escolar, las instalaciones escolares o en un espacio al aire libre en la propiedad escolar". Después de conversar con los directores y la administración del distrito, acordamos con APH y TEA mantenernos alineados con la guía de los Centros para el Control de Enfermedades (CDC) que establece que las máscaras ayudan a detener la propagación del COVID-19 a otros.
Se acerca el día en que nos relajaremos y / o eliminaremos el requisito de máscaras en nuestra escuela, pero ese día no es la próxima semana. Por lo tanto, Eanes ISD continuará con sus protocolos y requerirá que los estudiantes, el personal y los visitantes usen máscaras en nuestros edificios y campus.
Nuestro objetivo siempre ha sido tener un modelo sostenible de instrucción, tanto en el aprendizaje en persona como a distancia, para satisfacer las necesidades del personal y los estudiantes. Creemos que los protocolos que hemos tenido desde agosto nos han permitido entregar esos modelos de instrucción con interrupciones mínimas y sin cerrar campus, durante más de seis meses.
Si bien es alentador ver que algunos de nuestros maestros y personal se vacunan, la mayoría no ha podido recibir una vacuna. Tenemos la esperanza de que el anuncio estatal y federal cambie al personal de la escuela como una prioridad para que más personal pueda vacunarse, pero eso llevará algún tiempo.
Nuevamente, continuaremos con los protocolos que nos han permitido seguir siendo sostenibles y continuaremos alineándonos con la orientación proporcionada por APH, CDC y TEA. Nuestras escuelas se han adaptado a esta nueva normalidad y no anticipamos que esta decisión cambie nada en nuestra rutina diaria en las escuelas.
Apreciamos que nuestra comunidad apoye nuestros esfuerzos para priorizar la salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, personal y comunidad. Todos esperamos con ansias el día en que las mascarillas ya no sean un requisito, según la orientación de nuestras autoridades sanitarias locales y TEA. Por ahora, continuaremos ocultándonos y manteniéndonos a salvo.
