Board Highlights: HB3 implications, enrollment update & info on applying for the Bond Oversight Committee.

An Update from the Eanes ISD Board of Trustees
Superintendent's Report
We have made it through the first few weeks of school and what a wonderful start it has been. Our staff and students eased right into a new school year with excitement, resiliency and patience. As I continue to visit campuses, it is clear our #BeKind theme is in full force.
Our Board also kicked off the new school year with two meetings in August. The Board heard reports on HB3's implications to our budget as well as enrollment updates and discussion on the formation of the Bond Oversight Committee.
See a synopsis of the August meetings below. Full Board agenda packets are online.

HB3 and Implications
With the passage of House Bill 3 last legislative session, Eanes ISD has worked to define HB3's impact on the budget. At the August 27 meeting, the Board heard the positive impacts, including more revenue for the district, lower property taxes and lower recapture. However, negative impacts include the revenue increase is not sustainable and the district's recapture payment will jump above previous year's levels in a year.

Campus Connections
Teachers from Barton Creek Elementary and Cedar Creek Elementary joined district staff to present how they utilize Google Classroom as an instructional tool in their classrooms. This is one of a series of presentations planned to highlight the Thoughtful Use of Technology in EISD.
