PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING

“…I will try to understand either way…”  “Either Way” - Wilco

It’s almost Friday!  I hope everyone has enjoyed the cooler temps and all the outdoor extracurriculars that are now bearable.  It certainly has made more pleasant mornings and evenings as I’ve been running off my dogs and my kids while trying to burn off their energy.  I wanted to thank our Booster Club, The Darby Family, the Bancroft family for providing staff with Taco Deli, stocking our fridge with flavored waters and sodas, and delicious Cheryl’s cookies.  Thank you for surprising us with some treats to get us through the past few weeks!

As promised on Tuesday morning’s webinar, I wanted to share the most recent schedules we have available as they exist now (click to enlarge).  Your teacher will also be able to share them with any adjustments that may occur following this evening’s School Board meeting.

Additionally, pending tonight’s meeting, you may be contacted tomorrow regarding any changes in your child’s placement.  In the event student schedules require restructuring, we will be turning Skyward off as we update the system.

Lastly, I wanted to remind everyone that per the R2R plan, all campuses are considered nut-free with regards to snacks and the cafeteria.  Due to the constant shifting in classes and situations that will occur as students shift from in-person learning to remote and vice versa, this is one more step towards keeping our kiddos healthy.

Thank you once more for your continued support, the kind thoughts, and sweet sentiments sent our way.

We’re better because of you.

SCHOOL NEWS

Counselor's Corner

Virtual School Tour!!!
Attention New Students!!! If you're new to Forest Trail Elementary this year we created a virtual tour to prepare you for your arrival.  We can't wait to meet all of our new Falcons!

Counselor Notes

It was so great to see students in the building and we are trying to get to know as many as possible.  We'd love some student "Behind the Mask" pictures for our Weekly Assembly Video so email Mrs. Berry a picture of your kiddos with and without their masks, along with their names if they would like to participate.  We are still accepting pet pictures and videos as well.

For our lesson this week we are focusing on managing worries.  We know that worry and fear are sitting with a lot of our students and want to be sure there are resources available for you and your children during this time to help manage those feelings.  Visit our virtual Mindfulness Room for some great tools and enjoy this week's story, A Little Spot of Anxiety by Diane Alber.

Falcon Strong, Together!

Dear Falcon Families,

With so much background noise in our community, we continue to be proud and humbled by the outpouring of love from our FTE family. Every day we see evidence of our Falcon teachers and administrators working tirelessly to create successful learning environments for our children, and every day we have families reaching out to ask how they can support and show appreciation for staff. Meal Trains, DoorDash gift cards, cookie deliveries, PPE and cleaning supply donations, OH MY! We are so thankful to be a part of such a generous and thoughtful bunch!

If you are still looking for ways to show your support, please consider a donation to our No Hassle Fundraiser! These funds feed directly into FTE to tackle all the educational challenges facing our families and staff during the pandemic. And speaking of...

Modeling and Teaching Relationships Skills in 2020
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!  Even though the start of this school year is unlike any we have had before, we begin like we always have by fostering, modeling, and teaching relationship skills.  This teaching happens in the classroom, whether remote or in person, as well as in the home.  As we navigate uncharted territory for the start of the 2020-21 school year, teaching relationship skills and connecting with family members, friends, and teachers may be more important now than ever before.
