PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING

As the semester comes to a close, our minds and hearts are filled to the brim. Together we've learned much and shared experiences that will make for an equally awesome spring.  The strength of our community and wholehearted passion to make our school a wonderful place of learning makes FTE truly a special place.

Special thanks to our parents who have contributed in ways small, large, and unimaginable! Thanks for getting your kids to school on time each day and helping your kids in the learning process; the partnership between home and school is important.

I would like to thank our hard-working and caring staff members who have made a huge difference to our students.  Their commitment is outstanding and our kids are the beneficiaries. Thank you for providing rich, engaging, and well-rounded experiences for our kids and knowing that education is about joy, wonder and fostering curiosity, along with the development of social skills so needed to succeed. For these, and a million other things, we are truly grateful.  Additionally, thanks to the our FTE Booster Club for the very thoughtful gifts to staff.  We are truly fortunate; you spoil us.  One more round of thanks to the FTE elf helpers who gathered props to make our morning drop-offs fun this week.  Thanks to the Wilson family for the use of their super sweet golf cart.  It didn't help his game, but the elf was riding in style.

I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.  Please use this time to recharge and relax.  May your travels be safe and hearts be warm.  Personally, my crew will be staying local and "Griswaldian" as my family will be joining us from little ol' Anson to stay with us for a few days.  We're excited and very thankful for the time our kids will have with Nana and Pops.

Lastly, a few housekeeping items.  Tomorrow marks the deadline for Science Fair.  Please see the website/newsletter for details.  Forest Trail Open House will be held on Thursday, January 31.  Please mark your calendars and I hope to see everyone there.

Thank you for sharing your children with us; they are making you proud every day.

 FTE Rock Reminder...

All six elementary schools in Eanes ISD are participating in a site-specific art installation which will be displayed outside the Central Administration building this spring. The Forest Trail art teachers have designed a work of art that utilizes river rocks or landscaping rocks. This is an intentional "nod" to the Forest Trail tradition of giving students Character Rocks. Students will paint the rocks in art class, and the installation will be moved to the Forest Trail property after the district-wide show is over. Please have your child bring in one smooth, round-edged river rock or landscaping rock. They may be delivered to the art rooms no later than Friday, January 11th!
