What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas (or goes on Facebook), but what happens at Vintage Vegas stays at Forest Trail! Thank you all for coming out to celebrate and support our FTE community! It was successful evening for our campus and I enjoyed seeing so many parents and staff dressed to the nines and having a great time. A very special "Thank You" to Missy Speer, Mercedes Smith, Victoria Lavi and the rest of their team for the tireless efforts and sleepless nights required in creating such a special evening. The auction is a Herculean undertaking and they made it look easy…job well done!

Our new dismissal system goes LIVE on February 14th!

Please make it a top priority to click on the link in the attachment, sign up in the parent portal and CHECK YOUR CHILD'S DEFAULT SETTING for accuracy (the way your child typically goes home). If your default is incorrect, please reply to me OR email Cheri Look at clook@eanesisd.net. The system is very easy to use and will save you time in reporting absences and making changes to afternoon transportation.

Beginning February 14th, homeroom teachers will ONLY use the new Campus Dismissal Manager (CDM) system to manage how students go home. No more emails to the teacher or phone calls to the office. Accuracy is absolutely a MUST to be sure your child gets home the correct way beginning February 14th.

Thank you in advance for signing up as soon as possible. Our teammates and parents at Eanes Elementary have been using the system all year, and they assure us the system is a time saver for parents and teachers too!

And now this…

We are asking for your assistance with our attendance, specifically our number of tardies. Students are released to classes at 8:10am and the tardy bell rings at 8:20am. Thank you in advance for having your children in the building by 8:10an. Conversely, we dismiss at 3:30pm and buses depart at 3:35pm. Our wonderful teaching assistants who monitor the children after school are hourly employees and are not paid beyond their contract. Please help us out by picking up your children in a timely manner.

Congratulations to FTE Student ...

Congratulations to FTE third grade student Andrew Sheffield! Andrew submitted his question ("What is the difference between a debit card and a credit card?") to "ASK JEAN" at Time For Kids. His question was chosen by Jean and published in the February edition of YOUR $.

Parent & Kid Film Festival

For all of our budding film makers we would like to introduce an opportunity to participate in the Festival de Eanes. All of the festival information is available online here. To help build the skills that result in great story telling, Forest Trail will be offering a parent/child three hour Saturday workshop on February 10th. We can currently only accommodate 30 teams of one parent and one child (60 bodies) so sign up today to ensure your spot. Open to Kinder through Fifth grade students.

Just a reminder that BookPeople will be holding their 2018 BOOKMARK CONTEST. Artists in grades K-6 are invited to design bookmarks based on their favorite books. Winners will have their artwork made into bookmarks distributed by BookPeople. Also, the winners will receive a $25 gift certificate from BookPeople.

This year you can make a digital submission. Digital submissions should be in JPG, PDF or TIF and must be a high quality file of at least 300 ppi. Only one entry per person. One winner per category:
KINDERGARTEN, GRADES 1&2, GRADES 3 & 4 and GRADES 5 & 6.

PARENT BOOK CLUB MEETING - FRIDAY, FEB. 9th.

This Friday, Feb. 9th, will be our last Book Club meeting...in the FTE library from 2pm-3:30pm. Whether you have completed the book or not, please join us as we discuss the application of the book going forward. Everyone is welcome!

EISD INFORMATION

Interested in Spanish Immersion?

Mandatory parent information meetings will be held regarding 2018-19 Spanish immersion. THESE MEETINGS ARE ONLY REQUIRED FOR FAMILIES NOT CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN SPANISH IMMERSION. Interested parents MUST attend any one of these meetings to be eligible for NEW application to the 2018-19 Spanish immersion program in Eanes ISD.

Easily notify campus staff of dismissal changes, absences, early dismissals and late arrivals - all online! Every parent must set up their elementary child's dismissal instructions so teachers will know where to take your child at the end of the day.
