Forest Trail 2017-2018 Kindergarten Registration

posted Mar 10, 2017, 9:34 AM by Bonnie Rosson   [ updated Mar 10, 2017, 9:38 AM ]

WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Do your friends and/or neighbors have a child that will be five years old by the first of September?  Please help us spread the word! "Official" kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be conducted on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 A.M. in the Forest Trail cafeteria.

At 9:00 on  April 12th, all incoming kindergartners and their parents will meet in the cafeteria.  At that time the children will be divided into small groups and taken to the kindergarten classrooms with one of the kindergarten teachers.  Parents will remain in the cafeteria for a question and answer session hosted by one of the kindergarten teachers, the counselor, and the principal.  After approximately 30 minutes, the children will rejoin their parents in the cafeteria where they may enjoy a morning snack. The morning will conclude with an official EISD school bus ride.  For your convenience, the rear doors to the school will be unlocked that morning to allow for parking in both the front and rear of the school.

To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2017. Beginning March 20th, Kindergarten Packets are available for pick up in the front office. On March 29th, parents may access and complete the on-line required forms.  We request parents of next year's kindergarten students make every effort to complete the on-line registration by the morning of April 12th.  On-line registration can be completed at:  http://www.eanesisd.net/parents/enrollment. The registration information is essential to determine the staff needed and the number of classrooms required.

After completing the on-line enrollment forms, parents will need to bring the following to the Front Office.  We encourage parents to turn these in any time prior to Kinder Roundup April 12th. Our receiving these items in advance gives us additional time to review the material and will reduce your waiting time on registration day.

  • an original copy of child’s birth certificate, preferably with a photocopy
  • a photocopy of child’s social security card
  • a photocopy of child’s completed immunization record
(*This is required before school starts)
  • a photocopy of guardian’s valid driver’s license
  • (2) proofs of residency in EISD
(current utility bill and copy of lease agreement, deed contract or recent tax receipt.)

If it is not possible to obtain a photocopy of these materials before registration, a copier will be available in the front office.  Parents may bring originals with them, and a member of our staff will help make any copies needed.

Miscellaneous forms will be found in Kinder Packets (i.e. FTE Directory Form, Bus Buddy form, School Supply information, Kindergarten Day information, etc.) and will be available for pickup in our school office beginning Monday, March 20th .

Save the Date..."THE WELL-BALANCED STUDENT"

Today’s high-pressure, fast-paced culture can interfere with healthy child development. When we are too focused on test scores, performance, and grades, we may deny kids the time and energy they need to effectively tackle the demanding work of growing up.  This workshop examines the tensions that can occur between students, parents, and educators over issues such as homework, grades, and the culture of competition. We’ll offer parents research-based strategies to create healthier home and school environments.

In this presentation, parents will learn:

• How students today are coping- or not- with the academic pressure they face

• Ways they can reduce academic stress without sacrificing achievement or engagement in school

• Strategies to increase resilience, creativity, and well-being for their child

All Parents are encouraged to attend.

New EISD Transportation Rules

posted Aug 19, 2016, 12:29 PM by Bonnie Rosson

As we communicated last May, Eanes ISD has eliminated guest ridership on our school buses and eliminated stops to alternate locations for after-school programs. While we realize this may cause an inconvenience to some families, we made the decision based on bus route and fuel efficiency, management in terms of the amount of consistent riders on our routes, and equal transportation offerings for all of our families.

The definition of a guest rider is a student who rides a bus other than the one they are assigned. If a student remains on his/her assigned bus but gets off at a different stop along the route, which is allowed because he/she is already accounted on that bus.

Thank you for helping us to improve our transportation services and ensure consistent practices!
