International Dot Day 2017 at Forest Trail

International Dot Day 2017 will be celebrated Friday, September 15. The inspiration for Dot Day originated from Peter H. Reynolds book The Dot. In the book, Vashti is discouraged in art class and her teacher says, "Just make a mark and see where it takes you." Vashti realizes she is great at drawing dots and the more she practices the more skillful she becomes. By the end of the book Vashti is encouraging another student to take the same risk she did. So, we are celebrating taking reasonable risks, creativity, and encouraging others. Classroom teachers will be reading the story, discussing it, and participating in various activities. Please have your child dress in dots that day to celebrate.

Picture Day is Coming ... Thursday, Sept. 21st!

Individual student pictures will be taken on Thursday, Sept. 21st. Picture order forms have been sent home in the student's Thursday folders. Orders can be placed on line at mylifetouch.com using FTE Picture Day Ordering ID JD177109Y0.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Anaphylaxis, Asthma & Seizure Medication and Authorization Forms

If your child has asthma, seizures or a life-threatening allergy (risk of anaphylaxis), EISD requires that you provide medications and a new emergency care plan or action plan (completed and signed by your child's physician) annually before the first day of school. If you are running behind schedule, please take an Asthma Action Plan, Seizure Action Plan and/or Allergy & Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan to your doctor as soon as possible. You can download forms from the EISD website.

Mark Your Calendar ... FTE Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night is Thursday, Sept. 14th!

Settled into the back-to-school routine, yet? Well, make No Cook Spirit Nights part off your routine! Stop by Chick-Fil-A at Westlake Village on Thursday, 9/14 from 4-8pm. Feed your family, take the night off cooking and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to the FTE Booster Club when you mention our school at the register—it couldn't be easier! Thanks for your support & see you there!

*** IMPORTANT*** Families will need to mention that they are with FTE at the Register, so a button may be pushed to count that family's purchase toward our donation amount. We'll have a sign on the front door to help you remember!

BOOSTER CLUB CORNER

No Hassle Fundraiser Updates – Support Your Tribe by September 23rd with two weeks left we are at 21% of Goal!!

We are so grateful to all of the Forest Trail families who have already made their donations to the 2017 No-Hassle Fundraiser, our Booster Club's primary fundraiser of the year. We are at 21% of our goal with a little over two weeks to go!

Thank you for your support of our children, teachers, staff and community! Be sure to donate by September 23rd via the HUB http://tinyurl.com/ftenohassle or Venmo (FTE No Hassle or @ftenohassle).

Our goal is 100% participation. Prizes will be awarded to the classes with the highest percentage participation in each grade and classes that reach 100% participation. Plus, every family that donates will be entered to win one of several family-friendly gift cards--make your gift early for better chances to win!

The class that turns in the most Box Tops by September 22nd will win an EXTRA RECESS! The teacher of the winning class will win 2 Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Tickets and Popcorn and Soda!

Critical Volunteer Needs!

Popcorn shift volunteers. Did you know that popcorn is booster club's 4th largest fund raiser of the year? The popcorn committee is in need of three to five more volunteers to fill the 8:00 – 9:30 shift. You only need to volunteer for 1.5 hours ONCE per month!
